Pianist Profiles
| Pianist Kim Sung-Hoon was born in 1978 in Seoul, South Korea. He began his musical studies at the age of six. He experienced his first national success in Korea at the 1999 Dong-A National Competition. His first of many International successes came in 2003, when he received the Grand Prize at the 19th Epinal International Piano Competition. In 2005 he was the 3rd Prize winner at the Hong-Kong International Piano Competition and later in 2006, Kim was awarded 5th Prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition. |
He has studied at the National University of Arts in Korea, Hochschule for Music in Nurnberg and Folkwang Hochschule Essen in Germany with Choong-Mo Kang, Kyung-Sook Lee, Wolfgang Manz and Arnulf von Arnim.
Kim has given numerous recitals and performances as a soloist with Orchestras of France, Korea and Germany. He has given critically acclaimed recitals in Seoul, Bayreuth, Solingen Nurnberg, Augsburg and Epinal. He was also invited to give numerous recitals at Remscheid Dortmund, Bochum, Essen and Duisburg for the renowned "Ruhr Klavier Festival" in Germany.
